When thousands of people are losing their jobs, food and shelter scarcity is increasing, residents fear being deported, the ice caps really are melting and diseases thought to be of the past are proliferating, does art even matter? Can art change anything at all?

What about the hunters who painted their prey on cave walls, and left their handprints to show they were there, Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel, or Mark Rothko’s chapel? Of course, artists do change perceptions and perhaps stimulate action...or so event moderator and interlocutor, Karen Michel would like to believe. Do you?

Join longtime public radio and print journalist Karen Michel and a group of panelists to experience what they feel their work does to effect dialogue and--perhaps-- joy. With Jerome Cohen, Gwen Laster, Deb Lucke, David Ross and Edwin Torres there’ll be Deep Thoughts, music, and audience participation. That means you! At KuBe Art Center, Beacon, NY, in the new Library and Archive. Saturday, Mary 24th, 4-5:30p with reception to follow. $10 donation.
